We ask for your professional background and interests as well as your demographic information to help us better serve our diverse student population.

Ways to get involved:

  • Experiential Learning Opportunities - Host a student or a group of high-school seniors in your workplace as they learn about your career and business over a few days. You can guide students on job seeking, assist with resume and interview skills, do a worksite tour, let them observe workflow, or offer hands-on assistance if possible. ELOs are a learning experience, so students are not required to be skilled in the area they are exploring. Still, they may be able to assist with basic job functions, research, or preparation for upcoming events. ELO students are high school seniors seriously considering a career in your profession. Time investment: 15-30 hours

  • Work Based Learning Mentor - Students learn about careers while working on a representative problem or task from your industry. School to Career staff will help design an experience involving career conversations and a project that includes a series of mentor check-ins. Students will present their work, ask for input, and advance their project based on received feedback. Examples include: 1) Creating marketing campaigns for public service issues. 2) Designing and 3D printing a product. 3) Planning and pricing a menu to meet specific dietary needs. Time investment: 5-100 hours

  • Career Related Learning Experience Presenter - Speak to students at Career Day or Career Spotlight group events that focus on a specific career or career field at your worksite or in our Chamber classroom. These events offer students a glimpse into a business and the opportunity to speak to different company specialists. Small groups of students rotate around the room to meet with several presenters who expose a broader range of employment opportunities within a company they may not have known existed. The students who participate in Career Days events choose to attend, register, and make transportation arrangements, so they're an enthusiastic and receptive audience! Career Days can accommodate 30-100 students per event and run anywhere from 3-5 hours, while Career Spotlight Events are more intimate, with 5-30 students attending for 2-3 hours. We can scale the scope of the event to accommodate your worksite. There are many ways to make a dynamic and impactful student experience! Time investment: 2-5 hours

  • Job Shadow or Informational Interview - Each year students ask for a unique profession that we don't cover through our group events. We may invite you to host a student for an inside look at your career and your company based on the student requests we've received. This opportunity exposes the student to a business environment and essential workplace skills through observation for about 3-hours. Meeting with the student to explain your career pathway and answer questions can be at your worksite (or at a different public location), a Zoom meeting, or via a phone call. Informational Interviews may be shorter because of logistics and are equally valuable opportunities for students! Time investment: 1-2 hours

  • Guest speaker - Visit a classroom, talk to students about your career, and share what it takes to succeed in that profession. We can connect you with Kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms, so tell us what grades spark your interest! Time investment: 1 hour

  • Video Guest - Create a Career Exploration Video in which you talk with students about your workplace, your work, and what makes your job a perfect fit! A 3-5 minute video for grades K-3, and a 5-7 minute video for 4-6 graders connect students to people in our community who work in the various career areas they are studying. Be creative, add your enthusiasm, and make it unique! We can help you create a script if you need assistance. Time investment: 30 minutes to 2 hours

  • Mock Interviewer - Attend a Mock Interview event at a local high school, interview multiple students, and provide feedback by answering common interview questions and resume improvement suggestions. Time investment: 2-4 hours

  • Teen Market Mentor - Be a mentor to student artist entrepreneurs who sell handmade products at local summer Farmers' Markets. Attend three meetings and a soft opening launch to advise and encourage small business student owners! Time investment: 4-5 hours

  • Advisory Board Partner - Participate in four 2-hour quarterly meetings to collaborate with education and industry representatives to assist high school CTE teachers in curriculum design, community support, and mentoring. Time investment: 8 hours per year
